BARBELL
A standard barbell weighs either 20 kg (44 lbs) or 45 lbs. Your gym probably has a standard barbell, but in case you’re wondering, most are 28-29 mm in diameter and 86-87 inches long. If you’re buying your own, I’d suggest either a Texas Power Bar or a Rogue Ohio Power Bar.

RACK
“Anything from Rogue Fitness is high quality and built to last. For a space-efficient home setup, a squat stand is your best bet. You can find them as cheap as $100 on Amazon, but they won’t feel nearly as stable as the Rogue ones.

PLATES
“With the exception of deadlifts, standard metal plates will suffice (deadlifts require bumper plates). Your gym will likely have plates as small as 2.5 lbs, but I’d recommend buying your own fractional plates, which range from 0.25 to 1 lb. These allow for smaller increments in progression, which is especially important for upper-body movements like bench and overhead press. You can find fractional plates from Rogue Fitness or Amazon.
