OVERHEAD PRESS

The overhead press, while not one of the Big 3 powerlifting movements, is perhaps the most effective push movement for climbers due to its engagement of the rotator cuff muscles in the overhead position. There are a few variations of the barbell press, including those that generate force through the posterior chain, whether through the knees or hips. However, here we will cover the more isolated variation, often referred to as a strict or military press.
