Adding Weight

To add weight for hangboarding, you can hang plates off a harness using a sling and carabiner. If you don’t have weight plates, an easy alternative is to put some weights or everyday objects (like books, bags of rice, or water bottles) in a sturdy backpack and either hang it from the harness or wear it on your back. Using a harness is generally better because it keeps your center of mass more stable, making the added weight feel more natural.

For timing your hangs, a convenient method is to use a metronome app on your phone, set to 60 beats per minute (bpm). This allows you to focus on the hang without constantly looking at a stopwatch, helping you stay in rhythm and ensure you’re hitting the correct timing for each set.
